We’re excited to launch our seventh season with Community and Seasoned Citizens, performing the comedy classic by Moss Hart and George S. Kauffman, “You Can’t Take it With You.” All proceeds from the show will benefit local non-profit, Community and Seasoned Citizens.
Director and SSP Producer Michele Van Ness Herbon is “super excited” to be directing a full-length play for the first time. This play is funny, entertaining, and even leaves you with a “nugget of wisdom,” according to Herbon, adding that it makes you think about life.
The show is about the Sycamores, who seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. When the Kirbys’ attractive young son falls in love with Alice Sycamore, he brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. With these two worlds colliding comes mad activities including playwriting, ballet dancing, xylophone playing, snakes, printing, candy making and—of course—fireworks.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 ($8 for seniors and students) and can be purchased at www.silversceneplayers.com/index.php/tickets or at the door on performance dates. Contact the box office line at 937-553-3SSP (3777).

We have raised more than $20,000 in total for various Union County non-profits. Our mission to give back to the community through the joy of theatre aligns with Community and Seasoned Citizens’ mission to unite individuals in common interest and goals and partnering with the community. We are honored to be supporting such an organization.
