We are happy to announce that tickets are now on sale for our production of the Richard Rodgers Musical Comedy, “Two By Two”. We are hoping that you all come on out to enjoy a great show that benefits the local nonprofit Union County Guardianship Services, an organization that is committed to helping Union County adults who have been deemed unable to handle their own affairs by the probate court.
The performances are being staged at Union County’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium (233 W. 6th Street). The shows begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 10th. The cost is $8 per person and can be purchased here online or at the door.
“Two By Two” marks Richard Rodgers entering his seventh decade of writing for the theatre with this fresh and modern approach to the retelling of the Biblical story of Noah. It seems that the building of the ark was only the first of Noah’s many daunting challenges in a journey that wasn’t always smooth sailing. It turns both inspirational and hilarious as we discover that being chosen by God for great things does not necessarily simplify the daily demands made of a father, husband and, well, “human”. It’s good fun from The Good Book and when the land has dried, man and beast alike are invited to go forth and prosper in a bright New World.
We are partnering with The First United Methodist Church in Marysville to put on this production. This will commemorate the 45th anniversary of when the musical was first presented on Broadway and is under the direction of Barbara Luke with assistant director David Dodds, Musical Director Brian Luke, and Choreographer Jordan Schrader.
This staging of “Two By Two” continues our “give back” commitment to this community and seeks to enhance the lives of Union County residents by giving all proceeds back to local organizations passionate about doing the same. In 2013, 12 Angry Men raised $2,200 for the combined food pantries of Union County; 2014’s Our Town generated $1,400 for The Hope Center; Spring 2015’s The Odd Couple raised $1,116 for the Union County Humane Society; Fall 2015’s “Bus Stop” raised $1,231 for the Marysville Food Pantry; and the recent dinner theatre production “By Invitation Only” raised $1,400 for youth missions. We now shines the spotlight on the Union County Guardianship Services and its efforts to help Union County Adults who need help with their daily affairs.
