Did You Know?
- In Ohio, 17.8 percent of Ohioans (more than 2 million) are at risk of hunger – meaning they don’t always know where they’ll get their next meal.
- MEANING – More than 1 in 6 Ohioans are food insecure.
- For children, the risk of hunger is even higher—25.7 percent of Ohio children (679,900) are at risk of hunger.
- MEANING – More than 1 in 4 Ohio children are food insecure.
Last year, Ohioans made over 9 million visits to local food pantries (many households visited more than once for help with the basic necessity of food). Nearly 15 percent of visits were for seniors, and over 34 percent were for children.
The Ohio Association of Food Banks (OAFB) represents Ohio’s largest charitable response to hunger, made up of Ohio’s 12 Feeding America food banks (who operate warehouses where they sort large quantities of food for distribution) and their 3,300 local food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other hunger relief agencies that serve hungry people in all of Ohio’s 88 counties.
Our Governor has declared the month of September, “Feed Ohio” month!
Silver Scene Player’s next production, William Inge’s “Bus Stop” is going to benefit the Marysville Food Pantry which is a member of the OAFB. We are asking for your help with covering the costs of putting on this show which includes the scripts, the licensing rights, the rental of the auditorium, the building of the sets, costumes, and program printing. This way we can put on the best show possible and be able to give that much more to the Marysville Food Pantry. Won’t you consider helping us?
If you donate you’ll be given a huge shout of thanks on our Website, the Facebook Page, and even the show’s program.
